Print QA and version control for multi-market campaign materials

Print QA and version control for multi-market campaign materials

Campaign print fails quietly: the wrong language panel ships, a legal line is outdated, or a reprint mixes two artwork versions on one pallet. Recovery costs more than a disciplined proof loop.

Treat print like a controlled release — not a creative drop that ‘the printer will figure out’.

Why version chaos happens

Multi-market packs share dies and change only panels. Without a single source of truth for file names, proof sign-off and warehouse labelling, sites pick ‘whatever arrived last’. Storage and distribution then amplify the error across Care Direct partner locations.

Checklist: QA and version control

  • Version ID on every file, proof and carton label (market + date + revision).
  • Signed PDF/plotter proof before plate or digital run — including legal and claims text.
  • Language matrix: which SKU/pack carries which panel set.
  • Reprint rule: new version ID, quarantine of leftover previous version.
  • Sample retain: how many samples, where stored, how long.
  • Inbound check at warehouse: reject mixed-version pallets before put-away.

Questions for the pre-press call

  • Who is the single approver per market for legal copy?
  • What happens to WIP if a claim line changes mid-run?
  • How will the warehouse tell version A from version B on the floor?

How Dcode fits

Dcode manages promotional print with storage and distribution options — so artwork control, finishing and release into Care Direct warehouse capacity can sit in one brief instead of three vendors guessing versions. See also print storage and distribution for campaigns.

Next step: send your current version naming scheme and next campaign matrix to ask@dcode.gr. We will flag gaps before production starts.

From Dcode’s practice

We will not put mixed-version cartons into bulk locations. If marketing cannot name the live version in one sentence, the warehouse cannot pick it safely.

Written from Dcode’s warehouse, fulfilment, print, data, coupon and call-centre operations — and the software, AI and development work that keeps them connected across the Care Direct partner network.
